The largest marina on the lake
Thunderbird calls itself the largest marina on Milford Lake, and the Geary County visitors bureau uses the same line. The lake behind it is 15,700 acres with 163 miles of shoreline, built by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers on the Republican River.
On the property: two boat ramps, a courtesy dock, A dock, B dock, a fuel dock with floating jet-ski ports, and a marina store between the docks. CampLife currently lists 87 numbered slips inside the 184 bookable units.
What you can reserve online
A slip page’s Book button opens that slip on CampLife, for example A22. The header Book button still opens the park listing. If the slip is missing under Boat Slip, try Overnight Boat Slip and Sailboat.
Seasonal slip leases are by phone, 785-238-5864, for April 1 through October 31. Call for current rates and deposit.
Fuel and a short hop to the dam
Unleaded is at the fuel dock, with a card reader on the building marked 24HR and jet-ski ports alongside. There is a second fueling spot on the grounds. The park map marks a fuel depot by the Overlook sites.
You are near the dam, in West Rolling Hills. Recreation.gov’s West Rolling Hills page points day boaters at Thunderbird Marina as a place to start. That is the geography: lower lake first, north end if you feel like a longer run.
