Why this cove comes up
Published lake notes put crappie in coves in the Rolling Hills and Curtis Creek areas. Thunderbird is in the West Rolling Hills area, on the south end near the dam, beside the Army Corps’ West Rolling Hills campground. You are already in the part of the lake those notes are talking about.
That is not a promise of a limit, and it is not a brush-pile map. It is the reason people staying at this marina talk about crappie without driving to the north end first.
Fish the slip or fish the cove
Every slip holder is permitted to fish from the rented slip. If the bite is in the cove in front of the docks, you do not have to launch to start. If you want to run to Curtis Creek or another Rolling Hills cove, use a ramp or the slip you already hold.
Tent campers and RV guests without a slip can still use the two resort ramps. The site’s page has a Book button that opens that pad on CampLife.
